A Trinty AX Customer Story by FANUC
Unattended Prototyping
High-Mix, Low-Volume? No Problem!
We're proud to empower companies like KAD Models to achieve new levels of efficiency. Our Trinity AX Systems are revolutionizing prototyping for businesses like KAD, allowing them to run high-mix, low-volume parts unattended – a capability traditionally thought to be incompatible with automation. They use our Trinity AX Systems to produce an impressive 3,800+ unique parts per year. Take a peak inside KAD Models with FANUC highlighting the Trinity AX4 & AX5 Automated Pallet Systems.

"You can never replace the human hand," says Brian Kippen, CEO & President of KAD Models. He emphasizes the importance of human workers alongside automation. By implementing an automation system that's "easily utilized and easily loaded," Kippen freed up valuable daytime hours. This shift allows his employees to focus on training and setting up new projects, maximizing their expertise. In Brian's view, lights-out automation shouldn't replace human involvement; instead, it should create an environment where employees can develop their skills and contribute more effectively.
KAD Models offers prototyping and production services including CNC machining, silicone molding and urethane casting in both Vermont and California.
In KAD's production line, two different AX systems are utilized to automate the CNC machines. The Trinity AX5 system is integrated with the Haas UMC-750ss. Meanwhile, the Matsuura MX-850 is paired with the Trinity AX4 system. These AX systems play a crucial role in enabling unattended production by seamlessly handling parts between the pallet locations and CNC machines.
